Senior Commercial Escrow Officer

About the role

The Senior Commercial Escrow Officer/Closer is the primary point of contact for complex commercial real estate transactions and forms the cornerstone of the commercial division. The role requires strong expertise in managing high-value, multi-faceted property closings.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and interpret complex legal documents such as contracts, closing statements, deeds, affidavits and settlement statements.
• Calculate and verify prorations, payoffs and disbursements for multi-million-dollar transactions.
• Examine files thoroughly so all closing requirements are satisfied before funding.
• Schedule signing appointments and explain all documents clearly to clients and attorneys.
• Disburse funds accurately and promptly according to closing instructions and legal requirements.
• Maintain organized transaction files that meet audit standards.
• Ensure compliance with Department of Insurance regulations, RESPA and other state and federal requirements.
• Develop and implement best practices for the commercial escrow department.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Texas Escrow Officer license in good standing.
• At least 8 years of escrow experience, with 5 or more years handling complex commercial transactions, with emphasis on raw land development, light industrial and multi-use/multi-family development.
• Regular, predictable attendance and availability for full workdays Monday through Friday and other hours needed by the company.

Required skills

• Expertise in title insurance regulations, escrow procedures and commercial real estate documentation.
• Advanced proficiency with escrow and title software such as SoftPro, RamQuest or ResWare.
• Working knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Understanding of commercial lending procedures, ALTA requirements and survey standards.
