Senior Capital Projects Manager

About the role

The Senior Capital Projects Manager leads multi‑million‑dollar capital projects across research labs, classrooms, student housing and specialized facilities, reporting to the Program Director of Real Estate & Capital Projects.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage complex capital project activities with internal teams and external consultants, including contract preparation and administration.
• Supervise resident engineers overseeing construction on multiple sites.
• Lead feasibility studies, prepare program information, and collaborate with university departments and external agencies.
• Review planning and contract documents to ensure compliance with university standards.
• Develop financial analyses, preliminary cost estimates, and manage project budgets throughout the lifecycle.
• Administer contracts and oversee construction of new buildings, alterations, utilities, and roadways.
• Represent the university with local officials and external agencies on assigned projects.

Required profile

• Professional degree in architecture, engineering or related field (or 20 years experience in lieu of degree).
• Professional registration (Architect or PE) in Massachusetts or ability to obtain within one year.
• At least 10 years of progressive experience on multi‑disciplinary, multi‑million‑dollar construction projects, including 3 years managing project support staff.
• Proven ability to build productive relationships with campus and external stakeholders.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and experience with scheduling, spreadsheet, word‑processing and database software.
