About the role

Join DuckDuckGo's C++ Functional Team to build high‑performance code at the core of our privacy‑focused browser using modern C++ and Chromium.

Key responsibilities

• Implement tracker blocking that stops hidden trackers without slowing page loads.
• Integrate VPN and Personal Information Removal features into the browser for DuckDuckGo subscribers.
• Automate detection of startup and responsiveness regressions to keep the browser fast as it grows.
• Lead complex projects from proposal through post‑mortem, turning vague problems into clear, metric‑driven solutions.

Required profile

• 7+ years of software engineering experience with advanced modern C++ (C++23 or newer).
• Proven ability to lead and collaborate on high‑impact, complex projects end‑to‑end.
• Strong foundation in algorithms, data structures, and performance profiling.

Required skills

• Modern C++ (memory management, concurrency, performance profiling).
• Chromium and large‑scale C++ codebases.
• Large build systems, debuggers, and profilers.
• Windows development (bonus).
• Experience with browsers (Chromium, WebKit) or large desktop applications (bonus).
