Senior Buyer

About the role

Excelitas Technologies is seeking a Senior Buyer to support its Billerica, MA facility, which designs and manufactures advanced photonics products. The role will manage the procurement of services, equipment and materials needed for daily operations, ensuring cost‑effective acquisition while maintaining quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Solicit bids, evaluate quotations against specifications and select qualified suppliers.
• Partner with work cells to procure services and materials required for production.
• Provide analysis and recommendations to support purchasing and scheduling decisions.
• Process purchase requisitions and generate purchase orders.
• Maintain contract and purchase‑order files and track them in the appropriate system.
• Monitor market conditions, pricing trends and resource availability.
• Negotiate purchases to achieve the lowest acquisition cost.
• Communicate effectively with internal customers and external suppliers.
• Negotiate terms and conditions with suppliers.
• Perform other related duties of comparable complexity as directed.

Required profile

• High school diploma with specialized coursework.
• 5–7 years of experience in purchase expediting, material or inventory control.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
