Senior Benefits Specialist (Compliance)

About the role

The Senior Benefits Specialist supports the oversight and administration of compliance functions for the company's PEO Master Benefit Plans. As a key subject matter resource for internal teams, including Benefits Administration, the role covers complex regulatory and compliance matters such as the ACA, Form 5500 filings, Medicare Part D creditable coverage reporting, and state filings such as Massachusetts HIRD and ERISA. It is not client-facing and does not handle client calls.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor ACA compliance, including employer shared responsibility and annual 1094-C/1095-C reporting for the PEO Master Plans.
• Prepare, review and file Form 5500 annual reports, coordinating with third-party administrators and auditors.
• Track federal and state requirements (ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA) and communicate plan or process updates to relevant teams.
• Complete Medicare Part D creditable coverage disclosures and CMS reporting, and manage state filings such as Massachusetts HIRD.
• Research and answer internal escalations on compliance questions, providing guidance and documentation to client-facing teams.
• Maintain compliance documentation (SOPs, FAQs, calendars, process guides) and train and mentor team members.
• Take part in special projects, monitor regulatory changes and liaise with carriers, vendors and legal counsel.
• Run periodic audits of compliance data, generate Prism reports and support open enrollment and plan renewals.
• Regular on-site attendance is required for secure system access and sensitive compliance work.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of 2-4 years of benefits compliance experience (ACA reporting, Form 5500, ERISA).
• Other relevant education, certifications or training preferred.
• Analytical, regulatory research skills and the ability to turn complex rules into practical guidance.
• Clear written and verbal communication, presentation skills and teamwork.
