Senior Backend Software Engineer (Confluence Cloud AI Automation and Search)

About the role

Atlassian is hiring a Senior Backend Software Engineer focused on Confluence Cloud AI automation and search. The role is based in San Francisco but is fully remote, with 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The salary range is $224,800 to $235,000 per year, and the role may also be eligible for benefits, bonuses, commissions and equity.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and ship backend features and capabilities in a highly scalable, cross-geographic distributed environment.
• Collaborate closely with engineers, architects, product managers and designers in an open, agile workspace.
• Ensure full visibility, error reporting and monitoring of high-performing backend services.
• Take part in Agile ceremonies such as daily stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives and demo sessions.
• Review code with best practices of readability, testing patterns, documentation, reliability, security and performance.
• Develop backend applications using modern object-oriented programming languages, building scalable RESTful microservices and using database technologies from RDBMS to NoSQL.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Statistics, Data Science, Machine Learning or a related field.
• Four years of related work experience.
• Two years of experience with public cloud services such as AWS, GAE and Azure.

Required skills

• Four years of experience designing, building and shipping backend features, and implementing performant, scalable RESTful microservices.
• RDBMS technologies such as Oracle and Postgres, and NoSQL databases such as DynamoDB and Cassandra.
• At least three of the following object-oriented languages: Java, Kotlin, Go, Scala and/or C++.
