Senior Azure DevOps Engineer – Platform Engineering

About the role

Applaudo is seeking a Senior Azure DevOps & Platform Engineer to design, build, and operate secure Azure platforms using Terraform and CI/CD pipelines. The role operates under a contractor model and requires availability in the U.S. Central Time Zone.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement Azure tenant platforms aligned with Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF) and Azure landing zones.
• Build, deploy, and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions with Terraform, including state management, drift detection, and secret handling.
• Manage CI/CD pipelines, source control, and automation scripts in Azure DevOps for both infrastructure and application delivery.
• Implement and enforce Azure security controls, governance policies, and cost‑optimization measures.
• Provide technical guidance, troubleshooting, and operational support to cross‑functional teams.

Required profile

• 9+ years of hands‑on experience in DevOps and cloud environments, preferably in regulated or financial services.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Strong spoken English (B2+) for live discussions with US‑based stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently, drive continuous improvement, and collaborate with diverse teams.

Required skills

• Azure platform engineering (landing zones, networking, identity, security, governance).
• Terraform (IaC, state management, imports, drift detection, secret management).
• Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipeline design, and automation scripting (PowerShell, Python, Bash).
• Azure networking components: hub‑spoke topology, Azure Firewall, VPN Gateway/ExpressRoute, private endpoints, Private DNS Zones, NSGs, route tables.
• Azure compute services: AKS, Container Apps, App Service, Function Apps, Azure Container Registry.
• Azure security and identity: Managed Identities, OIDC federation, RBAC, PIM, Key Vault integration.
• Azure Policy implementation and governance enforcement.
