Senior Associate Director, Operations and Research

About the role

The Nuclear Engineering & Science Center (NESC) at Texas A&M Engineering seeks a Senior Associate Director to lead operations and research activities for its reactor facilities. This executive position reports to the Director and plays a critical role in ensuring safe, compliant, and effective use of the 1‑MW TRIGA and 5‑W AGN reactors for education, research, and service.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the reactor facilities, ensuring safety, security, and regulatory compliance.
• Manage integration of experimental research and educational programs with reactor capabilities.
• Coordinate with the Director on strategic planning and overall management of the NESC.
• Maintain rigorous compliance with U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) regulations and related standards.
• Lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers, technicians, and support staff.

Required profile

• Senior‑level experience in nuclear engineering or reactor operations.
• Proven track record in safety management and regulatory compliance.
• Strong leadership and organizational skills in a research‑focused environment.
• Experience collaborating with academic, governmental, and industry partners.
