Senior Architectural Specifications Writer

About the role

Kinetic Design + Development seeks a Senior Architectural Specifications Writer to translate design intent, materials, building systems and performance requirements into clear, coordinated specifications. The role supports projects from concept through construction and helps improve the firm’s specification processes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead preparation, editing, coordination and issuance of project specifications from design development through construction documents.
• Research products, materials, codes and reference standards to support project requirements.
• Identify and resolve incomplete, conflicting or high‑risk technical requirements before issuance.
• Maintain and improve the master specification library, templates and workflows.
• Coach project teams on effective specification practices and develop training tools.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience preparing architectural specifications and coordinating construction documents.
• Strong judgment, attention to detail and ability to flag technical risks early.
• Comfortable collaborating across disciplines and communicating technical information clearly.

Required skills

• Deltek Specpoint or similar web‑based specification‑writing software.
• Revit and related documentation standards.
• Knowledge of building materials, assemblies, construction methods and industry standards.
• Ability to read and interpret construction documents and technical details.
