Senior Analyst, Customer Analytics

About the role

The Customer Insights team at The Home Depot provides actionable insights to senior leadership to support strategic decisions in Marketing, Operations and Merchandising. The Customer Insights Senior Analyst develops in-depth quantitative analyses of customer shopping behavior across all channels, turning complex customer data into business recommendations for key stakeholders. The analyst also connects the outputs of the team's machine learning and data science models to business insights. The position reports to the Manager, Customer Insights and Analytics, with no direct reports.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret statistical and analytical results and suggest business improvements through clear, concise deliverables.
• Analyze changes in customer shopping behavior around key business events such as promotions, weather, category resets and operational changes.
• Develop and validate customer segmentations, compute customer value metrics and support ad-hoc data extraction and analysis requests.
• Work across the organization with cross-functional teams, using quantitative and qualitative measures.
• Analyze transactional data to identify purchase triggers and indicators supporting predictive, forward-looking strategy.

Required profile

• Age 18 or older and legally permitted to work in the United States.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a field related to the job.
• 3 years of work experience.
• Preferred: strong data analysis background, prior data science or ML model work, retail, management consulting or investment banking, or corporate strategic planning experience.

Required skills

• Data analysis with SQL (Google BigQuery or similar) strongly preferred.
• Statistical programming software, especially SAS, preferred.
• Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
• Ability to interpret complex data, present to board level and communicate clearly to executives and partners.
