Senior Adjuster / Marine Surveyor

About the role

Sedgwick is hiring a Senior Adjuster / Marine Surveyor based in Columbus or Dayton, Ohio (preferred). The role investigates and adjusts residential and commercial property and casualty claims with little to no supervision, and involves travel as required.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect claims and contact involved parties in a timely manner.
• Investigate the circumstances of claims to determine coverage, cause and compensable damages or reserves.
• Examine insurance policies and other records to determine coverage.
• Prepare estimates for the cost of repair and/or replacement.
• Interview claimants and witnesses about submitted claims.
• Negotiate and settle first and third-party claims.
• Handle salvage and subrogation as required by the client.
• Maintain client relationships to secure repeat business.
• Support the organization's quality programs and perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
• IIA-AIC designation required.
• Appropriate state adjuster license required.
• Two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to work independently or in a team, meet deadlines and handle multiple priorities.
• Physical requirements include standing or walking for long periods, lifting up to 50 pounds and driving up to 4 hours per day.

Required skills

• Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills.
• PC literacy, including Microsoft Office products.
• Customer service, attention to detail, time management and organizational skills.
