Field Auto Appraiser

About the role

Sedgwick is hiring a Field Auto Appraiser in Columbus, Ohio. The primary purpose of the role is to inspect, identify and evaluate auto vehicles involved in a loss. The position involves travelling to inspection locations and working with auto repair facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Appraise and determine the cost of repairs to damaged vehicles in the field, and decide whether to repair or replace and how parts should be used.
• Evaluate whether a vehicle is repairable or salvageable using industry-standard estimation software.
• Travel to inspection locations to appraise vehicles in the field.
• Prepare estimates using estimation software.
• Work directly with auto repair facilities to determine supplemental repair processing and provide a supplemental estimate.
• Perform other duties as assigned and travel as required.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED required; licenses as required by state guidelines.
• Three years of related experience, including at least one year of appraisal experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to stand and/or walk for long periods, kneel, squat or bend, work outdoors in hot or cold weather, and lift up to 50 pounds and push or pull up to 100 pounds.
• Auditory, visual and speaking abilities.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of automobiles.
• Ability to understand and use appraisal software.
• PC literacy, including Microsoft Office products.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal and negotiating skills, and ability to work in a team.
