Senior Accountant – Americas Accounting

About the role

Starbucks is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its Americas Accounting team. In this individual‑contributor role you will support the close and financial reporting processes for a complex, global business and help shape accounting policies and practices.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review journal entries and financial‑statement disclosures for accuracy and compliance.
• Reconcile accounts, review reconciliations prepared by others, and perform trend and variance analysis during month‑ and quarter‑end close.
• Maintain and improve accounting systems and processes, recommending enhancements where needed.
• Support quarterly earnings reporting, budget and forecasting cycles, and produce ad‑hoc analyses for business decisions.
• Research accounting guidance, draft memos, and contribute to the development of global accounting policies.
• Prepare deliverables for SEC filings and other regulatory requirements.
• Coach and train team members, facilitate cross‑training, and lead or support special projects.
• Collaborate with finance, treasury, risk, and operational teams across Starbucks.

Required profile

• Senior‑level accounting professional with experience in close and financial reporting.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements.
• Proven ability to develop accurate reporting analyses and implement process improvements.
• Excellent communication skills for providing accounting guidance and coaching colleagues.
• Detail‑oriented with a track record of delivering high‑quality work on tight deadlines.
