Senior Account Exec (Director) - Facultative Property/Energy

About the role

Howden Re is building its US facultative reinsurance business and is looking for an individual with an entrepreneurial mindset to lead it. The role is based in New York and sits within the property and energy lines.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage a portfolio of key US facultative reinsurance clients while supporting new business development.
• Develop and execute renewal and placement strategies aligned with client objectives and market conditions.
• Oversee client submissions, presentations and placement materials, and prepare detailed technical analyses for client portfolios.
• Negotiate contract wording and coordinate closely with contract drafters and legal and regulatory experts.
• Work with all Howden Re resources to deliver effective client service.
• Assist clients with profitability analysis and growth strategy development.

Required profile

• 5-7 years of reinsurance broking experience.
• Entrepreneurial mindset and comfort with analysis of policy bordereaux, loss runs, triangles, ILF tables and rate changes.
• Ability to interpret expected loss and loss volatility metrics from exceedance probability curves.
• Knowledge of insurance and reinsurance regulatory and compliance best practices.

Required skills

• Strong technical knowledge of actuarial analysis and/or catastrophe modeling techniques and output.
• Understanding of the insurance distribution chain and carrier expense structures.
• Basic understanding of RBC and BCAR calculations.
