Security Guard (Sunday - Tuesday)

About the role

This part-time security position at the Monterey pub is responsible for keeping the premises orderly and protecting guests and staff from unruly behaviour. It is an hourly role with hours varying according to business needs, and weekend availability is essential.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor patron behaviour and level of intoxication, and give early warning of suspicious behaviour
• Use eye contact and body language to signal that conduct is becoming unacceptable, then warn and remove objectionable persons
• Maintain professionalism, use force only in self-defence or for police detention, and call the police when criminal acts occur
• Help control over-crowding with the Manager and write incident reports with the General Manager
• Resolve conflicts, restrain fights and look after patrons' welfare, reporting serious matters to management and authorities
• Follow company safety and health policies

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid state driver's licence and valid state security guard card
• Professional demeanour under pressure, excellent verbal and listening communication, teamwork spirit and flexibility for varied shifts
• Able to stand or sit for long periods, lift up to 100 pounds and work in hot, cold, noisy or outdoor conditions
