Satellite Ground Systems Engineer

About the role

Stratos Solutions is looking for a highly skilled Satellite Ground Systems Engineer to lead the development and management of complex satellite ground software for a government program. The role involves overseeing the full systems engineering lifecycle and ensuring delivery of critical capabilities.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee end-to-end systems engineering lifecycle for satellite ground software, from concept through integration and delivery.
• Develop and refine system architectures aligned with mission objectives and requirements.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define and document system and software requirements, including performance, reliability, and security.
• Manage development processes, working closely with software teams to meet schedules and requirements.
• Lead testing, integration, validation, verification, and performance testing efforts.
• Monitor delivery compliance with contractual and technical requirements and provide technical expertise to the government.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering or related field (Master’s preferred).
• Minimum 8 years of systems engineering experience, focusing on satellite ground systems or similar complex software projects.
• Strong problem‑solving, analytical and communication skills.
• Detail‑oriented with a commitment to quality and continuous improvement.

Required skills

• Agile development methodologies.
• Tools such as Jira and Confluence.
• Requirements development, system design, verification and validation (V&V).
• Familiarity with software development methodologies, tools and frameworks.
• Knowledge of industry standards and best practices for satellite ground systems and software engineering.
