Router – Logistics Route Planner

About the role

The Router is an individual contributor responsible for creating and managing delivery routes, calculating optimal delivery times, and adjusting schedules for drivers and customers. Reporting to the Transportation Manager or Routing Supervisor, the role works a Sunday‑through‑Thursday shift and utilizes multiple routing software systems.

Key responsibilities

• Establish cost‑effective delivery routes compliant with Federal DOT guidelines while maintaining high customer service standards.
• Use the Roadnet application to monitor delivery costs and ensure they meet company run‑rate targets.
• Maintain routing procedures and schedules to maximize personnel and equipment usage with a focus on driver safety.
• Perform daily Roadnet maintenance, updating locations, geo‑coding, delivery windows, service times, equipment restrictions, and DOT checks.
• Generate costing, off‑day, maintenance, scorecard, customer, and KPI reports on scheduled intervals.
• Review previous day’s routing results and adjust standard routes as needed.
• Produce maps, driving instructions, and nightly driver manifest reports.

Required profile

• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience.
• 1‑3 years of experience in distribution, logistics, transportation, or a related field.
• Strong attention to detail and solid process orientation.
• Ability to interact with drivers, sales, transportation, warehouse, and customer service personnel.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the Roadnet routing application.
• Basic to intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
