RN Transfer Center & Bed Planner

About the role

The RN Transfer Center/Bed Planner oversees patient flow, directing admissions, transfers and bed control while coordinating EVS and transport operations. This role works with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal room assignments and supports the hospital’s strategic patient‑centered care objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Provides clinical oversight and critical thinking for daily patient flow and bed placement decisions.
• Supports hospital administration, management and nursing staff to achieve patient‑centered care goals.
• Facilitates professional relationships among leadership, medical staff and interdisciplinary teams to assign rooms based on diagnosis, acuity and flow.
• Evaluates staffing needs with nursing units and coordinates resources for capacity surges.
• Collects, monitors and evaluates data accurately and supervises day‑to‑day operations of nursing units.

Required profile

• Associate’s degree in nursing, science or related field (required); Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Minimum three years of clinical nursing experience; supervisory or transfer‑center experience preferred.
• Current RN licensure in the state of practice.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with computers, SharePoint, Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Commitment to maintaining licensure and certifications through continuous education.
