RN Surgery – PRN

About the role

The RN Surgery – PRN position at Cleveland Clinic Avon Hospital supports both ambulatory and inpatient surgical services. This dual role allows the nurse to scrub and circulate in the operating room while working flexible PRN shifts.

Key responsibilities

• Provide nursing care in an operative setting for patients undergoing surgical or invasive procedures.
• Perform scrub functions, including selection and handling of instruments and supplies.
• Perform circulating functions, monitoring and communicating patient condition before, during and after the procedure.
• Prepare the OR, surgical instruments and equipment for use.

Required profile

• Graduate from an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN).
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within six months of hire.
• Internal applicants: one year of recent related clinical experience; external applicants: two years.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Proficiency in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
• Ability to handle and manage surgical instruments and supplies.
• Knowledge of operating room procedures and patient monitoring.
