Medical Laboratory Technician / Technologist

About the role

Join Cleveland Clinic Avon Hospital as a Medical Laboratory Technician/Technologist and contribute to world‑class patient care. This position works evening shifts in the Pathology‑Diagnostics Institute, performing and interpreting laboratory tests of all complexity levels.

Key responsibilities

• Perform specimen handling, processing, analysis, and reporting according to laboratory procedures.
• Maintain regulatory knowledge, quality control documentation, instrument calibrations, and equipment maintenance.
• Identify and resolve quality control or performance issues, notifying supervisors as needed.
• Participate in proficiency testing and comply with CLIA regulations.
• Provide education and training to students, residents, and staff on laboratory techniques and safety.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in chemical, biological, clinical, or medical laboratory science/technology from an accredited institution.
• Meets CLIA qualifications for high‑complexity testing personnel.
• Certification eligible or held (MT, MLT, MLS) through ASCP or AMT is preferred.

Required skills

• Specimen handling and processing.

• Proficiency testing under CLIA guidelines.
• PCR knowledge and pipetting experience.
