RN Surgery – Ophthalmology

About the role

The Cleveland Clinic Cole Eye Institute is seeking a Registered Nurse to support ophthalmology surgery. The role rotates through pre‑operative, intra‑operative, and post‑operative phases, offering training in both circulating and scrubbing functions.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare patients for eye surgery and assist during procedures.
• Provide post‑operative care, education, and follow‑up.
• Perform scrub and circulating duties, set up OR instruments and equipment.
• Participate in a six‑month comprehensive OR training program and acquire peri‑operative competencies.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Diploma, ADN or BSN).
• Current state RN licensure.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• At least one year of RN experience or completion of Cleveland Clinic peri‑operative residency.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within six months if performing moderate/procedural sedation.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

• Proficiency in peri‑operative nursing procedures.
• Ability to handle and lift patients and equipment as described in physical requirements.
