RN Supervisor – Emergency Department (Day Shift)

About the role

The RN Supervisor provides direct patient care and leads the nursing team in the Emergency Department during day shifts. This role combines hands‑on clinical work with supervision, coordination, and quality improvement responsibilities.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and treat critical injuries, allergic reactions, and trauma while quickly responding to emergencies.
• Organize, plan, and supervise coordinated patient care within the unit.
• Supervise, develop, and evaluate assigned nurses and patient care technicians.
• Manage staffing, scheduling, and ensure necessary clinical supplies are available.
• Collaborate with unit leadership on conflict resolution, quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program with a BSN (required for Ochsner Magnet facilities).
• Current RN license in the state of practice.
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience or 2 years of LPN experience in acute care.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.

Required skills

• Proficiency with computer software, web‑based applications, and electronic health record systems.
• Ability to work under high pressure, prioritize tasks, and manage frequent interruptions.
