RN Resident – Orthopaedic and Spine

About the role

Join Cleveland Clinic’s Lutheran Hospital as a New Graduate Registered Nurse in the 5D Orthopaedic, Spine, Neurology and Bariatrics unit. You will participate in a year‑long residency program that combines direct patient care with mentorship, clinical judgement development and skill building.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care on a high‑turnover post‑operative unit, following hospital policies and protocols.
• Partner with a dedicated coach to complete the residency core curriculum and develop clinical judgment.
• Prioritize patient care activities based on acuity, patient preference and resource availability.
• Document care accurately in the electronic medical record and communicate effectively with the care team.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (BSN preferred).
• Current state RN licensure.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification at hire; ACLS, PALS, NRP or other specialty certifications as required by unit within the first year.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – American Heart Association.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – American Heart Association.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) – American Heart Association (if applicable).
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) or Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) for trauma‑center assignments.
• Vascular Access certification (CRNI or VA‑BC) for PICC line care.
