About the role

Ochsner Health is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) on a PRN basis to provide pre‑operative and post‑operative care on the Jefferson Highway unit. This role supports patient outcomes through the nursing process and collaborates with interdisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

Utilize the nursing process to deliver safe, high‑quality patient care.
Assess patient learning needs and implement appropriate teaching strategies.
Delegate, direct, and assist licensed and ancillary team members.
Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team.
Maintain compliance with federal, state, and accreditation standards.

Required profile

Graduate of an accredited nursing program; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Current RN license in the state of practice.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Ability to perform physical demands of the role, including occasional lifting of up to 100 lb.

Required skills

Proficiency with computers, software, and web‑based applications.
Effective verbal and written communication.
Organizational and time‑management abilities.
