RN PCU - Night Shift

About the role

AdventHealth is hiring a Registered Nurse for its PCU (Progressive Care Unit) in Wesley Chapel, Florida, working full-time nights. The nurse provides critical care to patients, documents care in the electronic medical record and collaborates with other healthcare professionals.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans based on findings and diagnoses.
• Administer medications and treatments accurately, monitor patient responses and adjust care plans as needed.
• Educate patients and families about conditions, treatments, medications and self-care.
• Document care activities accurately and timely in the EMR and ensure compliance with regulations and accreditation standards.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and supervise and mentor nursing staff.
• Maintain a safe, clean environment following infection control policies and respond promptly to life-threatening situations.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (RN); Associate's degree in nursing required, Bachelor's preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing.
• Previous experience in a specialty area, previous EKG interpretation class, and familiarity with Cerner or EPIC are preferred.
• Additional licensure or certification requirements may apply depending on the unit or state.

Required skills

• Proficiency in clinical skills, multi-tasking and accurate EMR documentation.
• Knowledge of nursing care methods, critical care skills and basic EKG knowledge (depending on patient population).
• Preferred certifications: FCCS, BEKG, BLS, CCNS, CEN, NRP-A, TNCC, PALS instructor, S.T.A.B.L.E.
