RN PACU

About the role

AdventHealth is hiring a Registered Nurse for its PACU (post-anesthesia care unit) in Wesley Chapel, Florida. This is a full-time day shift position. The nurse conducts comprehensive patient assessments, develops individualized care plans, administers medications and treatments safely, and provides education and emotional support to patients and families.

Key responsibilities

• Assess patients' physiological, psychological, developmental, sociocultural, spiritual and lifestyle factors, and develop and revise individualized care plans
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and safely, following physician orders and hospital protocols, and monitor for adverse reactions
• Educate patients and families about conditions, treatments, medications and self-care strategies
• Collaborate with medical staff and ancillary departments to coordinate patient care
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care activities, interventions and outcomes
• Ensure compliance with infection control protocols, safety standards and regulatory requirements
• Provide emotional support and therapeutic communication, supervise and delegate care to the healthcare team, and respond promptly to code situations
• Participate in continuous professional development and performance improvement activities

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (RN); Associate's degree in nursing required, Bachelor's preferred
• 1+ year of experience in an acute care hospital setting preferred
• Fluent English (reading, speaking and writing)
• Basic computer skills, including navigating Microsoft Windows-based programs
• High-level abstract reasoning to assess patients and revise care plans
• Knowledge of nursing care methods and procedures, teamwork, and strong communication and problem-solving skills
• EKG and advanced life support certification (requirements listed separately)

Pay range: $31.85 - $58.04. Positions are subject to Florida Level 2 background screening, including fingerprinting. The facility is an equal opportunity employer.
