Flight Medic

About the role

AdventHealth is hiring a full-time Flight Medic in Wesley Chapel, Florida, on a day-weekend shift. The role involves providing skilled nursing and paramedic care to patients during air transport, assessing them, administering medications and responding to emergencies.

Key responsibilities

• Perform and document accurate initial and ongoing patient assessments, including physical and mental status, and report findings to the responsible physician.
• Monitor patient lab work, report abnormal results and obtain appropriate interventions, documenting the plan of care.
• Analyze cardiac rhythms and provide safe, competent care.
• Provide individualized, goal-directed nursing care using the nursing process and prepare patients for tests, procedures and surgery.
• Administer medications accurately (PO, SQ, IV, IV push, IVPB, IM, SL, PR, topical, intradermal).
• Respond to unit and hospital codes and treat patients according to BLS and ACLS protocols.
• Manage patient pain according to policy and maintain a safe environment, including fall risk and restraint use.
• Supervise and guide permanent and temporary nursing personnel, and communicate patient updates to physicians and receiving units.

Required profile

• Licensed Paramedic (required).
• 5+ years of continuous experience in an EMS or critical care transport system (required); 1+ year in fixed-wing or rotor aircraft preferred.
• Associate degree preferred; graduate of an accredited paramedic program preferred.
• Valid driver's license (required).

Required skills

• ACLS, BLS, PALS and NRP certification (required).
• Microsoft Office apps (preferred).
• Certified Critical Care Paramedic (preferred), Flight Paramedic (preferred), EVOC or CEVO (preferred), and other trauma and stroke scales (preferred).
