RN Operations Coordinator – Day of Surgery

About the role

The RN Operations Coordinator provides supervisory leadership and direct patient care on the day‑of‑surgery unit at Jefferson Highway. This role ensures high‑quality, safe, and efficient care while supporting staff development and operational performance.

Key responsibilities

• Organize, plan, and supervise coordinated patient care within the unit, ensuring appropriate staffing and resource allocation.
• Develop, evaluate, and mentor assigned nurses and patient care technicians, promoting evidence‑based practice and conflict resolution.
• Collaborate with quality, safety, and patient experience leadership to uphold regulatory standards and improve care outcomes.
• Monitor operational metrics such as productivity, expense management, and quality indicators, and adjust processes as needed.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program with a BSN (required for Ochsner Magnet facilities).
• Current RN license in the state of practice and Basic Life Support certification.
• At least 1 year of RN experience or 2 years of LPN experience in an acute‑care setting.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and remain objective under stress.

Required skills

• Proficiency with computer software, web‑based applications, and electronic health record systems.
• Effective verbal and written communication for presenting information to diverse audiences.
• Knowledge of unit productivity, expense management, regulatory requirements, and quality indicators.
