RN Navigator

About the role

AdventHealth is hiring a full-time RN Navigator in Hendersonville, North Carolina, working a Monday to Friday 8am-5pm day shift. The role provides nursing care and guidance to patients from first contact through the continuum of care, acting as a bridge between patients, their families and the clinical team.

Key responsibilities

• Guide patients on treatment plans, appointment steps and follow-up scheduling, and track referral and treatment outcomes with detailed records.
• Develop and implement patient education programs and tools, and provide psychosocial support including support groups.
• Educate patients on clinical trial information, resource referrals and counseling, and advocate for patients and families.
• Build relationships with physicians, office staff, community resources and providers, and act as liaison between specialists, primary care physicians and patients.
• Coordinate community education programs, health fairs and local events, and educate other healthcare team members.
• Attend national, regional and local conferences related to the program and the RN Navigator role.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
• Registered Nurse (RN) license and Basic Life Support (CPR) certification.
• 1+ years of acute care nursing experience; 1+ years in an oncology setting preferred.
• Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) preferred.

Required skills

• Organizational skills and ability to work independently.
• Strong interpersonal, communication and psychosocial assessment skills.
• In-depth knowledge of diagnosis, treatment and age-appropriate patient education.
• Knowledge of in-house and external oncology resources and insurance coverage and procedures.
• Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Teams) and electronic medical record systems preferred; bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
