Clinical Nurse Educator - ICU/Med Surg

About the role

AdventHealth is hiring a full-time, day-shift Clinical Nurse Educator for its ICU/Med Surg unit in Hendersonville, North Carolina. The nurse educator supports professional development, evidence-based practice and quality improvement, and mentors new nurses, students and other staff.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as a resource for clinical inquiry, including research, evidence-based practice and quality improvement using the PDSA cycle, and help implement planned changes
• Create, plan and coordinate orientation for new nurses and staff, adapting to learners' needs and using effective facilitation
• Train new graduates, experienced nurses and ancillary staff, coach them, run simulations and assess competencies
• Evaluate and refine competency management, identify gaps and high-risk practices, and collect data to improve
• Design and deliver engaging educational activities based on adult learning principles, including continuing education, in-service training and career development
• Support students, preceptors, certification and advanced education, and collaborate with academic partners and stakeholders

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing (Master's preferred)
• Registered Nurse (RN) license and BLS/CPR certification
• 2+ years of hospital nursing experience; specialty area, preceptor, teaching and NPD practitioner experience preferred
• Knowledge of the ANA/ANPD scope and standards for Nursing Professional Development

Required skills

• Working knowledge of word processing, data management, email and presentation software
• Effective communication and strong interpersonal skills
• Preferred: knowledge of regulatory standards such as CMS and OSHA, and ANCC-NPD or CCRN certification
