About the role

Join Ochsner’s Emergency Medicine team as a PRN Registered Nurse, providing high‑quality, compassionate care in a fast‑paced emergency setting. The position utilizes the nursing process within the Nurse Practice Act and ANA standards, supporting diverse patient populations while contributing to unit and departmental goals.

Key responsibilities

Apply the nursing process to deliver safe and effective patient care in the emergency department.
Assess learning needs of patients and families and implement appropriate teaching strategies.
Communicate, delegate, and manage nursing team resources, acting as a leader on the interdisciplinary team.
Utilize data and evidence‑based practices to promote optimal patient outcomes.

Required profile

Registered Nurse diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.
Current RN license in the state of practice.
Current BLS certification; CPI certification; ACLS and PALS certifications to be obtained within 90 days of hire.
Proficiency with computers, software, and web‑based applications.
