RN Charge Nurse - Emergency Department

About the role

AdventHealth is hiring a full-time, day-shift RN Charge Nurse for its Emergency Department in Littleton, Colorado. The charge nurse coordinates patient care across departments including PACU, inpatient units, radiology and anesthesia, supervises nursing staff and ensures high-quality, safe care.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate patient care across departments including PACU, inpatient units, radiology and anesthesia
• Develop and implement individualized care plans based on patient assessments and medical orders, and monitor and document patient progress
• Prioritize patients by acuity and urgency and respond promptly to emergencies
• Collaborate with physicians, anesthesiologists and other providers, and educate patients and families about their care plans
• Supervise nursing assistants and support staff, evaluate their performance and manage staffing, overtime and supplies
• Manage the department's fiscal operations, oversee scheduling, attend and lead codes, and collaborate with the director on policies and quality improvement
• Complete accurate documentation in the electronic medical record

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (RN); Bachelor of Nursing preferred
• Current nursing license and Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification
• 1+ years of acute care hospital experience preferred
• Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) preferred
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbal and written

Required skills

• Supervision experience and skills
• High-level abstract reasoning to assess patients and revise care plans
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Windows programs
• Cerner (preferred)
• Leadership, critical thinking, prioritization and conflict resolution
