About the role

Ochsner is seeking a Rheumatology Medication Assistance Specialist to support providers by ensuring patients’ medication compliance, handling lab monitoring, and managing medication authorizations. This hybrid position combines on‑site patient interaction with remote coordination, contributing to exceptional, compassionate care for the Baton Rouge community.

Key responsibilities

• Process patient onboarding and collect home/chronic medication information.
• Coordinate with providers and patients to assess eligibility for financial support.
• Navigate medication authorization processes and obtain necessary approvals.
• Enter and maintain accurate medication lists in the electronic health record (EHR).
• Communicate discrepancies to pharmacists and clarify with prescribers as needed.
• Gather prescription benefit information and address patient or family inquiries.
• Document all findings in the EHR to facilitate collaboration among care team members.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• At least 2 years of experience as a pharmacy technician, medical intake, or related healthcare role.
• Medication Therapy Management Certification (PTCB) required.
• Medication History Certificate (ASHP) to be obtained within 6 months.

Required skills

• Computer proficiency with software and web‑based applications.
• Knowledge of pharmaceutical mathematics.
• Experience using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
