About the role
The Louisiana Department of Revenue seeks a Revenue Tax Auditor to conduct complex field audits of businesses and corporations, ensuring compliance with state tax laws while delivering high‑quality customer service.
Key responsibilities
- Perform in‑state and out‑of‑state field audits of large, complex taxpayers.
- Coordinate audits for a wide range of tax types, including corporate income, franchise, personal income, sales/use, severance, fuel, tobacco, and natural gas.
- Independently examine financial statements, accounting records, tax reports, and operational processes to determine correct Louisiana tax liability.
- Travel to metropolitan areas across the United States to complete examinations of the most complex taxpayers.
- Prepare detailed audit reports and recommend appropriate tax assessments.
Required profile
- Three years of experience in tax accounting or tax auditing, OR six years of full‑time experience plus 24 semester hours in accounting, OR a bachelor’s degree with 24 semester hours in accounting, OR a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, or statistics, OR an advanced degree in a related field, OR a JD, OR a CPA license or current Louisiana law license.
- Experience substitution allowed: 30 semester hours = one year of experience, up to 120 semester hours.
