Retail Pharmacy Technician

About the role

The Retail Pharmacy Technician supports medication delivery and pharmacy operations in a hospital setting, working under close supervision to ensure accurate dispensing, compounding, and inventory management.

Key responsibilities

• Fill medication orders, price manual orders, and deliver medications to designated areas.
• Refill and maintain automated dispensing machines and inventory, including IV room stock.
• Enter physician orders into the pharmacy order entry system, verify accuracy, and resolve discrepancies with pharmacists or nursing staff.
• Compound IV admixtures and other preparations using aseptic technique and proper pharmaceutical procedures.
• Perform clerical duties such as typing, answering phones, filing, and greeting clinicians at the pharmacy window.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; current Pharmacy Technician Certification from the state board.
• Preferred: at least 1 year of hospital pharmacy experience.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and on‑call availability.
• Willingness to travel between facilities as needed.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Windows‑style computer applications and data entry.
• Ability to operate standard pharmacy dispensing equipment and IV compounding devices.
• Strong verbal and written communication for interacting with clinicians and patients.
