Respiratory Therapist – New Graduate

About the role

Ochsner Health is seeking newly‑qualified Respiratory Therapists to provide respiratory care, oxygen services, diagnostic testing and ventilation support to patients of all ages, from neonatal to geriatric, in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine and advanced therapeutic procedures, monitor and wean oxygen therapy and artificial ventilation.
• Draw, analyze and report arterial blood gases and EKGs, assist with airway changes, and deliver intermittent therapy as ordered.
• Educate patients and co‑workers on procedures and treatment plans, document clinical information, and attend staff meetings.

Required profile

• Associate’s degree in Respiratory Therapy.
• Current state license as a Respiratory Therapist and certification by the National Board of Respiratory Care.
• Basic Life Support certification; ACLS and PALS to be obtained within 90 days of hire; NRP certification for NICU work.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Windows‑style applications and data entry.
• Ability to analyze arterial blood gases.
• Strong verbal and written communication for patient and team interactions.
