Residential Support Specialist

About the role

Arbor Place, Inc., a nonprofit in Menomonie, Wisconsin, provides prevention, treatment and renewal services for people affected by substance use and mental health disorders. It is looking for Residential Support Specialists to support individuals in recovery in a 24/7 residential treatment setting. The role involves engaging with clients, supporting their daily routines and modelling recovery-focused behaviour in a safe, therapeutic environment.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and interact with clients respectfully and professionally
• Support clients with daily living skills, structured activities and program rules
• Monitor client behaviour, give redirection and model recovery-focused conduct
• Complete required documentation accurately and promptly
• Administer and document medications after training and policy
• Conduct urine analyses and other program monitoring tasks
• Take part in crisis intervention and de-escalation as needed
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe living environment
• Communicate with team members, supervisors and other departments
• Attend staff meetings and trainings

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to pass a Wisconsin Caregiver background check and pre-employment drug screen
• Valid driver's licence and acceptable driving record
• CBRF certification or willingness to obtain it within the required timeframe
• Availability for every other weekend, a mix of 1st and 2nd shifts with occasional overnight shifts; new hires are trained on all shifts

Preferred

• Recovery Coach or Peer Support Specialist certification
• Associate or bachelor's degree in Human Services, Psychology, Social Work or a related field
• Experience in behavioural health, residential care or substance use treatment

What we offer

• Starting wage of $16.50-$19.50 per hour, depending on training, education and certifications
• Flat rate of $23.25 per hour for overnight shifts
