About the role
Americans United for Separation of Church and State is seeking an innovative, self‑starting researcher and writer to lead its new polling and public‑policy research program. The role will sit within the Public Policy Department and will support both internal strategy and external advocacy efforts.
Key responsibilities
- Design and execute a nationwide and state‑based polling program, including goal setting, workflow, budgeting, and vendor management.
- Analyze polling data, produce summaries, and create presentations for stakeholders such as coalitions, lawmakers, and the public.
- Develop and disseminate research‑based resources (reports, blog posts, talking points) that educate policymakers and the general public on church‑state separation.
- Conduct quantitative and qualitative research to support federal and state policy initiatives and education campaigns.
- Collaborate with other departments to integrate polling insights into broader organizing and narrative‑change strategies.
Required profile
- Proven experience in research design, data collection, and analysis.
- Strong writing and communication skills for both technical and public‑facing audiences.
- Ability to manage projects, budgets, and external vendors.
- Interest in public policy, civil liberties, and advocacy work.
