Research Manager – Multimodal AI

About the role

We are seeking a Research Manager to lead a high‑impact AI research team focused on multimodal sensing. The role sits within Bosch’s North American Research and Technology Center in Pittsburgh and drives the development of foundation models and generative AI for diverse sensor signals.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the research vision and roadmap for multimodal sensor foundation models and generative AI.
• Lead R&D projects that combine machine learning with heterogeneous sensors such as radar, audio, RF, IMU, vision and industrial sensors.
• Advance representation learning, self‑supervised learning and multimodal fusion techniques to improve perception for automotive, consumer, manufacturing and healthcare applications.
• Develop generative and probabilistic models for signal simulation, synthesis, forecasting, anomaly detection and inverse problems.
• Maintain a culture of scientific excellence, delivering high‑impact IP and publications in top AI conferences.
• Collaborate with academic partners (e.g., Carnegie Mellon University) and represent Bosch in external research forums.

Required profile

• Proven track record of leading AI research teams and delivering results that balance scientific rigor with product relevance.
• Strong publication record in top AI conferences or journals (NeurIPS, ICLR, ICML, CVPR, ICASSP).
• Experience working with cross‑functional internal partners and external academic collaborators.
• Ability to secure and manage intellectual property for industrial applications.
