Research Development Officer

About the role

Prairie View A&M University seeks a Research Development Officer to support its growing research enterprise and advance toward R1 status. The role provides hands‑on assistance with opportunity scouting, proposal preparation, team coordination, and faculty training.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in developing large‑scale, multi‑PI, multidisciplinary proposals (e.g., NSF Centers, NIH Program Projects, DoE Consortia).
• Coordinate complex proposal teams, shape project concepts, and manage narrative and compliance.
• Identify and disseminate funding opportunities relevant to the university’s strengths.
• Provide guidance and training to faculty, especially early‑career investigators, on proposal preparation.
• Organize internal review processes, maintain a database of faculty research interests, and collaborate with research administration.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree and at least three years of experience securing federal funding, including NIH large‑proposal experience.
• Knowledge of NIH, NSF, DoD, and other federal agency requirements.
• Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to multitask.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook.
• Experience using Qualtrics, Adobe Acrobat Pro.
• Familiarity with Grants.gov, Research.gov, ASSIST, ezFedGrants, NSPIRES.
