About the role

The Research Compliance Specialist II supports faculty investigators in managing regulatory aspects of research studies and the administrative side of projects at Texas A&M University‑Corpus Christi.

Key responsibilities

  • Review and set up research protocols, draft initial submissions, and ensure studies do not start before approval.
  • Maintain approvals for IACUC and IBC, manage continuing and de novo review deadlines, and submit amendments.
  • Oversee laboratory operations, develop SOPs, perform animal care, manage biosafety permits, and coordinate lab inspections.

Required profile

  • Bachelor's degree in biology or related field with at least two years of relevant experience.
  • Basic knowledge of laboratory animal techniques, biosafety practices, and regulatory requirements (USDA, AAALAC, NIH‑OLAW, etc.).
  • Strong written and verbal communication, attention to detail, and ability to work independently or in a team.

Required skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience using Cayuse research compliance software.
  • Familiarity with Vivarium animal‑care systems.
