Medical Assistant - Family Medicine

About the role

Future Focus Family Medicine is seeking a Medical Assistant to join its ASAS Health team. The role centres on patient care and customer service, working closely with clinical staff to support direct patient services. It requires discretion, diplomacy and tact in interactions with patients and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Review and update patient records before visits and virtual visits (telehealth), including recent test and lab results and correspondence.
• Clean exam rooms between patients and keep supplies stocked, following infection control standards.
• Greet patients, direct them to the right room, and take weight, height, temperature and blood pressure, documenting the history in the medical chart.
• Provide initial medical screening and assist physicians or mid-level providers during examinations.
• Restock rooms, shelves and trays, and keep exam rooms clean and orderly.

Required profile

• High school graduate (or GED) required.
• Current, valid Medical Assistant certification preferred; new hires without it must obtain it or recertify within 90 days, with reimbursement of up to $250 for exam and training materials.
• Current, valid CPR certification.
• Bilingual English/Spanish and other languages strongly preferred; valid Texas driver's license, insurance and willingness to travel preferred.

Required skills

• Excellent communication and documentation skills, with diplomacy and tact.
• Beginner to intermediate computer and phone skills.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, high-stress environment and to cross-train within the department.
• Working knowledge of Universal Precautions and strict adherence to HIPAA confidentiality.
