Research Compliance Specialist II

About the role

The Research Compliance Specialist II supports faculty investigators in managing regulatory aspects of research studies and the administrative side of projects at Texas A&M University‑Corpus Christi.

Key responsibilities

• Set up research studies, draft initial submissions, and ensure no work begins before approvals.
• Maintain IACUC and IBC approvals, manage continuing and de novo review deadlines, and submit amendments.
• Manage research records, personnel compliance, and essential study documentation.
• Oversee laboratory operations, develop SOPs, perform animal care, manage biosafety permits, and assist with lab inspections.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in biology or related field.
• At least two years of related experience in research compliance or laboratory settings.
• Basic knowledge of laboratory animal techniques, biosafety practices, and regulatory requirements (USDA, AAALAC, NIH‑OLAW, etc.).

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience using Cayuse research compliance software.
• Familiarity with Vivarium operations and animal care protocols.
