Research Associate 2 – Inhalation Toxicology

About the role

The LSU Veterinary Medicine department seeks a Research Associate 2 to support ongoing inhalation and developmental toxicology projects. The role combines laboratory research, assay development, and mentorship of students in a collaborative academic environment.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct in vitro exposure experiments on cell cultures and perform immunological, biochemical, cellular, and molecular assays (35% effort).
• Assist with in vivo inhalation studies of environmental pollutants, including sample collection and assay execution (35% effort).
• Manage routine laboratory tasks such as ordering supplies, maintaining inventory, and ensuring lab safety (20% effort).
• Train and supervise undergraduate and graduate student workers in laboratory techniques (10% effort).
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the principal investigator.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a related scientific field with at least one year of laboratory research experience.
• Preferred: Master's degree in Biology, Toxicology, Public Health, Biochemistry, or Microbiology with 1+ years of lab management and cell‑culture experience.
• Authorization to work in the United States.
• Willingness to work occasional weekends or holidays as needed.
