Omnicell Compliance Specialist – Pharmacy Automation

About the role
The Omnicell Compliance Specialist serves as the primary administrator of the Omnicell automated dispensing system within the LSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital. This position ensures safe, compliant, and efficient medication use, supporting high‑quality patient care and pharmacy operations.
Key responsibilities
- Manage, maintain, and optimize all Omnicell Automated Dispensing Machines (ADMs) and the Omnicenter server.
- Perform daily controlled‑substance cycle counts, investigate discrepancies, and reconcile activity with EMR records.
- Generate and analyze Omnicell reports to monitor usage trends and support regulatory compliance.
- Maintain accurate medication inventory, restock, monitor expirations, and adjust par levels.
- Troubleshoot system issues and coordinate with technical support and pharmacy leadership.
- Train pharmacy staff, clinicians, house officers, and veterinary technicians on proper Omnicell use.
- Support daily pharmacy operations, including prescription filling, sterile and non‑sterile compounding, and inventory management.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree or Associate’s degree in Pharmacy Technology with relevant experience, or Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) with 3 years experience.
- Licensed Pharmacy Technician in Louisiana.
- Minimum 2 years experience with automated dispensing systems (e.g., Omnicell, Pyxis).
- Knowledge of DEA, Board of Pharmacy, and controlled‑substance regulations.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lb and perform physical tasks required in a pharmacy environment.
