Lead Worker – Anesthesia (Veterinary Medicine)

About the role
This position provides anesthesia and anesthetic support across all clinical service areas of the LSU Veterinary Medicine teaching hospital, while leading and mentoring full‑time, part‑time, and student technicians.
Key responsibilities
- Perform and teach anesthetic induction, monitoring, recovery, airway management, catheter placement, and regional anesthesia for small and large animal patients.
- Maintain anesthesia equipment, medications, monitoring devices, and emergency supplies, ensuring readiness for scheduled and urgent cases.
- Provide leadership and operational support to the anesthesia team, including scheduling, equipment maintenance, inventory, and training of new technicians.
- Participate in on‑call rotation and respond to after‑hours emergencies, including CPR and emergency interventions.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree or associate degree in veterinary technology with 4 years experience, or equivalent 7 years experience.
- Active Louisiana Registered Veterinary Technician license and at least five years of related experience (preferred).
- Ability to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and on‑call duties.
- Physical ability to lift 50 lb and perform required movements.
