Research Assistant – Tribal Economies

About the role
The Center for Indian Country Development (CICD) at the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis seeks an early‑career quantitative analyst to support research on tribal economies and economic outcomes. This two‑year temporary position is benefits‑eligible and offers the chance to contribute to policy‑relevant analysis while developing advanced data skills.
Key responsibilities
- Use code‑based analytical tools, primarily R, to investigate questions about tribal economies.
- Respond to ad‑hoc data requests, perform analysis, and interpret results for internal and public audiences.
- Create data visualizations for CICD articles, presentations, and other communications.
- Maintain and update CICD’s public‑facing data products.
- Conduct literature reviews to inform research projects.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in economics, quantitative social science, or a related field.
- Proficiency in R or Stata with demonstrated project experience.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work both independently and in a team.
- Commitment to building proficiency in CICD’s analytical tools, including Git.
