Remote Staff Pharmacist – Mail‑Order Specialty Pharmacy

About the role
This remote position provides clinical and operational pharmacy expertise within a high‑volume mail‑order specialty pharmacy. The Staff Pharmacist ensures accurate dispensing, medication counseling, and regulatory compliance while collaborating with call‑center and program teams.
Key responsibilities
- Review and approve medication orders, ensuring correct drug, dose, strength, directions, quantity, and patient information.
- Conduct prescription review and data quality checks for incoming and outgoing prescriptions.
- Verify orders that fall outside FDA‑approved labeling and approve when supported by appropriate clinical documentation.
- Identify and resolve therapeutic incompatibilities and potential drug interactions.
- Handle inbound and outbound calls with prescribers, provider offices, pharmacies, and members to clarify prescriptions, dosing, and administration instructions.
- Provide patient and family education over the phone regarding medication use, dosing schedules, side effects, storage, and adherence strategies.
- Counsel patients on medication administration, potential adverse events, and adherence, including REMS program requirements.
- Monitor drug therapies, identify and report adverse events and product complaints in accordance with pharmacy regulations.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable pharmacy laws, regulations, program guidelines, and internal policies.
- Maintain up‑to‑date pharmacological and regulatory knowledge through continuous education.
- Support high‑volume mail‑order operations to deliver correct, high‑quality products in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with call‑center and program staff to ensure efficient operations and high levels of customer service.
- Participate in operational process reviews and provide pharmacy expertise.
- Follow quality‑assurance procedures, controlled‑substance security, and hazardous‑waste disposal protocols.
Required profile
- Demonstrated clinical and operational pharmacy expertise in a remote, mail‑order specialty pharmacy environment.
- Experience supporting high‑volume prescription processing.
- Ability to collaborate closely with call‑center and program teams.
- Commitment to maintaining current pharmacological and regulatory knowledge.
