Remote California Workers' Compensation Claims Examiner

About the role

Sedgwick is hiring a remote California workers' compensation claims examiner to analyze claims on behalf of its clients and determine the benefits due. The role applies California workers' compensation knowledge to adjudicate complex claims, with ongoing adjudication kept within service expectations, industry best practices and client requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze and process claims through well-developed action plans to an appropriate and timely resolution.
• Investigate and gather information to determine the exposure on each claim.
• Negotiate settlement of claims within designated authority.
• Communicate claim activity and processing with the claimant and the client.
• Report claims to the excess carrier and respond to requests for direction in a professional and timely manner.

Required profile

• 5 years of claims management experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• High school diploma or GED; bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
• California licensing and jurisdiction knowledge required.
• Professional certification applicable to the line of business preferred.

• Computer keyboarding.
• Hearing, vision and speaking ability.
• Clear and conceptual thinking, good judgment and discretion, and the ability to meet deadlines.
