Field Auto Appraiser - Catastrophic Loss

About the role

Sedgwick is hiring a Field Auto Appraiser for catastrophic loss claims, working in Cedar Rapids/Davenport, IA, Minneapolis, MN, St. Louis, MO, Kansas City, MO or Denver, CO. The primary purpose is to inspect, identify and evaluate auto vehicles involved in a loss. The role may require deployment in support of catastrophe operations, particularly during peak summer months, which can involve extensive travel, extended hours and temporary relocation.

Key responsibilities

• Appraise and determine the cost of repairs to damaged vehicles in the field, and decide whether to repair or replace and how parts should be used.
• Evaluate whether a vehicle is repairable or salvageable using industry-standard estimation software.
• Travel to inspection locations to appraise vehicles in the field.
• Prepare estimates using estimation software.
• Work directly with auto repair facilities to determine supplemental repair processing and provide a supplemental estimate.
• Manage daily appraisal volume within the assigned home territory during non-CAT periods, and perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED required; licenses as required by state guidelines.
• Two years of related experience, including at least one year of appraisal experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Prior catastrophe appraisal experience is a strong plus.
• Ability to stand, walk, kneel, squat or bend, work outdoors in hot or cold weather, lift up to 50 pounds and pull up to 100 pounds, and drive up to 4 hours per day.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of automobiles.
• Ability to understand and use appraisal software.
• PC literacy, including Microsoft Office products.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal and negotiating skills, teamwork and ability to meet performance competencies.

• Starting pay range of $51,000-$75,000 per year for the listed jurisdictions.
